Interviewing and Selection Skills - 2 Days

As Jim Collins says in his best-selling book “Good to Great” the primary difference between companies that are Great (as opposed to (merely) good) is ‘getting the right people on the bus’.  Poor Interviewing and selection skills result in poor hiring decisions - ultimately the biggest waste of time, money and management resource in the western commercial world today.

This, highly interactive two-day workshop takes Managers through a proven and tested system of Best Practice procedures for getting every part of the selection and recruitment process right.  Covering every aspect from the use of external agencies (when, why, how and how to brief them), the creation and placement of advertising copy, every step of the pre-screening and screening process and every step of the interview and subsequent selection process.
This workshop is, as you might expect, hugely interactive and participatory.  Delegates will learn the best practice skills and then immediately get the chance to practice those skills in life-like situations.  We will produce and provide a wide range of guides and templates that will take managers through every step of the process to enable them to develop a faultless approach that yields the results they seek.

Topics include;

  • Agencies, when to use and when not to
  • Agencies - How to brief for optimal results
  • Placing Job ads - where and how
  • Competencies
  • Writing them
  • Describing them
  • Interviewing to them (Competency-Based Interviewing)
  • The Interviewing Process
  • Do’s and Don’ts
  • 7 Stage Interviewing Process
  • The Skills of Interviewing
  • Questioning Skills
  • Listening Skills
  • Candidate Evaluation Processes
  • Giving Feedback
